One of the most powerful testaments you can offer to demonstrate the value of the work you do is the before-and-after case study. You don't even have to get into details; just put the "before" smile next to the "after" smile and the results speak for themselves.

That's kind of what we're doing here at Spear in documenting the progress of our most successful clients.

We figure that it is one thing to tell dentists about the value of what we are doing; it's another thing to show you, by sharing some of our most compelling before-and-after stories.

One recent story has really resonated with me, and the interesting thing is that this dentist actually doesn't have a lot of "before" to compare with. She is fairly new to dentistry but she is not new to success. She started out by pursuing a career in computer science with IBM but kept feeling "the call" of dentistry, a profession she was introduced to while working in a practice during college. In the three years she has been a dentist, she has set a standard for performance that many long-time practitioners have yet to reach.

Her name is Dr. Heather Adams, and I think she proves that you don't have to be in practice a long time to develop an inspiring vision and acquire a set of guiding values, or to have the confidence to deliver care at a high level. But you do have to have the maturity to create a line of sight for your career and you need the resolve to devote the time, resources and energy to achieving excellence. You have to make the commitment – and the sooner you make it, the better.

You can read more about Dr. Adams. If you are a new dentist, use this as an inspiring example of what it is possible right now.

If you are an established dentist who appreciates young wisdom when you see it, do the profession a favor and pass this along to a young dentist you know. You could be saving them from saying one day: I wish someone had told me this when I was starting out.
