Spear Education Welcomes New Resident Faculty Member, Tyler Rathburn, D.M.D., to Lead Orthodontics Workshop

Spear Education is pleased to announce the addition of Tyler Rathburn, D.M.D, as their newest Resident Faculty member.

Spear Education is pleased to announce the addition of Tyler Rathburn, D.M.D, as their newest Resident Faculty member. Dr. Rathburn will serve as the instructor for Spear’s new Orthodontics Workshop Series, which is part of Spear’s new sworkshop paths specifically designed for general practitioners.

His excitement to join the Spear Resident Faculty team and to lead the charge in this first workshop track focused on orthodontics is evident.

“I am truly honored to be joining such a special group of dentists and teachers and look very much forward to spearheading the orthodontic curriculum,” noted Dr. Rathburn. “I hope that these courses will be able to provide a solid foundation in orthodontic diagnosis and fundamentals and then apply those skills to identifying and treating aligner cases with a high degree of success.”

Dr. Rathburn is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in 2009. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) (now Augusta University) in 2013 and his orthodontic certificate in 2015. Just one year later, he challenged and passed his American Board of Orthodontics Doctor certification at MCG.

He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Additionally, he served in a leadership role with the Southern Association of Orthodontics as an alternate delegate representing new and younger members until 2020.

Currently, he practices in Georgia at Atlanta Orthodontic Specialists with his parents, Dr. Michael Stewart and Dr. Melisa Rathburn.

“I have always admired the mission and leadership of Spear in providing top-notch dental continuing education,” said Dr. Rathburn. “I’m very much looking forward to seeing everyone in Scottsdale and being part of such an amazing team!”
