Their shared passion for continuous learning and an unwavering commitment to patient care cultivated through Spear have been passed down to their son, Dr. Brian Beck, who now owns and operates their practice, Tallahassee Dental Associates.

Where It All Began

Having established Tallahassee Dental Associates in 1983, the couple has recognized the importance of continuous education in enhancing their skills and expanding their treatment capabilities.

“We actually started with Dr. [Frank] Spear before Spear Education through attending his lectures in Orlando in the last 90s, then we started taking his workshops in Seattle – we’d sign up two years in advance just to be part of his workshops,” said Marci.

After Spear Education was established in 2007, the Becks became involved with Spear Study Clubs, Summit, and many different workshops. Through these they’ve experienced a transformation in their practice, gaining the knowledge and confidence to deliver advanced dentistry to their patients.

Passing the Torch

Their son, Brian, was inspired by his parents’ passion for dentistry. and decided to follow in their footsteps. Recognizing the value of Spear Education, Glenn and Marci encouraged Brian to immerse himself in the educational curriculum while still in dental school. In 2013, Brian joined the family practice as an associate, leveraging the wealth of knowledge he had already gained from Spear to provide exceptional care to their patients.

As part of his ongoing professional development, Brian takes full advantage of Spear Education’s offerings, attending online seminars, participating in the local Spear Study Club, and attending hands-on workshops in Scottsdale. Over the past two years alone, Brian completed four intensive workshops.

“The knowledge I’ve gained through Spear Education has set me apart from my peers, elevating my philosophy to an entirely different level,” said Brian.

For Glenn and Marci, passing the torch to their son was a natural progression. With Spear Education as the common thread, they knew that introducing Brian to the organization would help him realize his full potential as a dentist.

The Becks describe Spear Education as a family, a sentiment echoed by many practitioners who have been part of the organization for years. Dr. Spear’s philosophy on managing patients and overcoming practice challenges resonated with Glenn and Marci, providing invaluable guidance throughout their careers. The annual Spear Summit, a gathering of dental professionals from around the world, became a highlight on their calendar, further deepening their connection to the Spear community.

“It’s been a great experience over a long period of time,” Glenn expressed, reminiscing about their 20-plus years with Spear Education. “The growth that occurs when you get involved with Spear is phenomenal.”

Growth to New Heights

Today, as Glenn and Marci continue to contribute their expertise to the family practice, they find joy and fulfillment in witnessing their son’s growth as a dental professional. With Brian taking over ownership of Tallahassee Dental Associates in 2022, their practice remains a testament to the power of Spear Education and the transformative impact it can have on a dentist’s career.

“We’ve been able to see him progress over the last 10 years, especially since he’s been involved in the workshops. It’s just really elevated his skill level and philosophy about dentistry,” Marci said, her pride in Brian’s achievements evident. Glenn concluded, “We were 25 years with Spear, and now we have our son involved and have been able to see him grow.”

The Beck family’s story exemplifies the power of knowledge, dedication, and the bonds forged through a shared commitment to lifelong learning. Through Spear Education, the Beck’s family legacy will continue to thrive.
