I think one of the best measures of greatness in a person is how they respond when presented with a new idea.

We all like to think that we are open-minded, but the truth is most of us have at least some areas of our lives where we protect the status quo and are resistant to change. Some people – especially once they have achieved a measure of success – can get locked into a way of thinking and doing things that lead them to take an "either/or" approach to any new idea. Either something fits perfectly into their existing framework or it is rejected completely.

On the other hand, we all know examples of very creative, highly successful people who are always reaching new levels of growth because they welcome and encourage ideas that have the potential to shake things up. That doesn't mean they accept every idea that comes their way, but they love having the chance to consider new approaches because that's what stimulates growth.

This is something I hope our readers keep in mind when considering the articles available here. These brief messages are obviously not able to cover all possibilities for everyone. The thoughts offered here are just that – thoughts. They are not meant to suggest that the ideas in them are the only way to do something, or that the approach you are using is necessarily wrong. They are designed to stimulate your thinking, to invite reflection and exercise creative problem-solving muscles.

Maybe what you read here on any given day simply doesn't work for you in your practice. On the other hand, maybe you find a perfect solution you had not thought of before. Or maybe you adapt part of it because just the act of reading and thinking about a topic sparks your imagination and you find yourself exploring something new.

The important thing is not that you get a ready-made solution that is perfect for your practice every time you visit these postings. The important thing is that you are here and part of the discussion. It means you are open to considering ideas and that you enjoy being a part of a community of minds. That says a lot about you, and I for one hope to continue sharing thoughts with you in this forum of ideas for years to come.
