Do you utilize lasers for hard tissue procedures in your practice?

In his new Spear Online course, “How Lasers Are Used for Hard Tissue Procedures,” Dr. Christopher Walinski highlights how lasers work and showcases dental laser procedures that go beyond simple soft tissue excision.

“I’ve been using hard tissue lasers for over 20 years now,” said Dr. Walinski, an author, inventor and innovator in laser dentistry who serves as an associate professor and course director at Touro College of Dental Medicine at New York Medical College.

“I think everybody understands how soft tissue lasers can benefit your practice and I am excited to share some of the ways that lasers can be used on hard tissue,” he said.

In the new course, you’ll see how hard tissue lasers are utilized for an array of dental procedures.

“We’re going to cover a wide variety of topics,” Dr. Walinski said. “We’ll go into things like desensitizing teeth and cavity preparation. We’ll even get into a topic that’s become really hot recently, and that’s removing porcelain veneers with a laser.”

This course will leave Spear Online members more confident in their ability to:

  • Identify four types of hard-tissue lasers used in dentistry
  • Relate the scientific basics of the electromagnetic spectrum
  • Express the effects of light absorption in water
  • Discuss how lasers are used to desensitize teeth, perform cavity preparations and remove indirect restorations

“How Lasers Are Used for Hard Tissue Procedures” includes five lessons:

  • Types of Hard-Tissue Lasers & How They Work
  • Infrared Concepts & the Role of Water
  • Pulse & Duty Cycle Fundamentals
  • Laser-Assisted Hard Tissue Procedures
  • Indirect Restoration Removal
