tmd dental ce course

Spear has released two new dental CE courses on TMD cases.

In “TMD: Exam to Decision – Megan Part 1” and “TMD: Exam to Decision – Megan Part 2,” Dr. Kevin Kwiecien guides dental practitioners through the process of identifying commonality of pertinent history, current findings, diagnosis and appropriate treatment for patients with suspected muscle and/or joint etiology. Part 1 details Megan’s case history and reviews the functional findings. Part 2 continues the case, from the assessment of her system to the final delivery of the splint.

Both courses are part of the new “TMD Examination and Diagnosis for the Dental Team” learning pathway. This pathway, which currently includes four clinical courses and two team meetings, is designed to improve the practitioner's comfort in treating TMD cases by providing a systematic and repeatable process for examining, diagnosing, and planning appropriate treatment for patients with suspected muscle and/or joint etiology.

After watching these courses, viewers will be able to:

  • Review critical components of the comprehensive exam for  increased confidence and competence of muscle and joint findings
  • Discuss possible etiologies of common signs and symptoms
  • Discuss systematic process to determine appropriate path of initial diagnosis
