fixed hybrid dentureSpear released two new Study Club modules that focus on a hybrid case from beginning to end.

In both modules, Dr. Doug Benting presents a patient with a terminal dentition who will ultimately receive upper and lower fixed hybrid prostheses. In “Fixed Hybrid Dentures, Part I: Diagnosis to Provisional,” Benting focuses on treatment planning considerations for patients transitioning from a failing dentition to an implant retained prosthesis, as well as the clinical steps necessary for converting the immediate conventional dentures to provisional fixed hybrids. Both immediate loading and delayed loading approaches to the denture conversion are demonstrated.

In “Fixed Hybrid Dentures, Part II: Provisional to Definitive Restoration,” Benting takes the case from the provisional restorations through to the definitive prostheses. The provisional restorations are evaluated for diagnostic information necessary for completion of the case. Final impression, laboratory steps and post-insertion maintenance are also demonstrated.

While these are being released as two separate modules, it is recommended that Study Clubs watch them in order.

Through this module, Study Club members will:

  • Learn to use Facially Generated Treatment Planning concepts with the terminal dentition
  • Understand implant planning as it relates to fixed hybrid cases
  • Learn both the immediate and delayed approaches to converting immediate complete dentures into provisional fixed hybrid restorations
  • Learn to view the provisional fixed hybrid as a prototype of the definitive prosthesis
  • Understand the criteria necessary for a successful final impression
  • Understand laboratory considerations in the restorative design for full arch fixed prosthesis

Study Club members will be eligible for three continuing education credit hours for each module they complete.
