upper and lower dental casts I'm always interested in what's new and pragmatic in our clinical and laboratory world.

I have never been satisfied with the use of rubber bands to secure upper and lower casts to each other prior to articulation. Bite registrations will secure them best; however, not all casts that need articulation necessarily need occlusal registrations for mounting.

Rubber bands have been used as far back as I can remember but I'm thrilled to work with a new mounting stabilizer.

This device slides on over the pin of your articulator and with a movable and bendable metal band, places even pressure on the cast base securing it into the position you want. It is then lubricated with Vaseline and pulled straight out after the plaster has set.

You may find you enjoy the ease of use and the accuracy of your mountings if you give this a try.

great idea...I agree with the rubber bands.. I have been using a glue gun for the last 5 years. 2 strips on each side of models really stabilizes during mounting
