What We Do

What We do

The Open Wide Foundation facilitates the efforts of dentists who want to spend a week working in our clinics. We provide pre-trip training, administrative support, and post-trip debriefing.

In addition, we source the necessary equipment and supplies to support the activities of the visiting dentists. We organize and transport gifts of dental and medical equipment and supplies to the communities we serve.

How We Do It

FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP The Open Wide Foundation follows the highest standards of financial integrity. We are fully accountable to our supporters and we keep administrative costs to a minimum, ensuring that the vast majority of the money raised supports the efforts of the communities we serve. Funds raised are used to manage the logistics of moving people, supplies, and equipment to the areas of need. Our status as nonprofit association is 501 3c, meaning that your donations of over $250 are fully tax deductible.

Where We Work

Our guiding principles dictate three requirements for choosing a location. We work only in those communities that have need and that ask for our involvement; where government supports what we do; and where a university will train local dentists to sustain what we begin.

Clinics will function independently within a five-year period, and gradually we spread the program to other countries in need.

The town of Peronia, Guatemala is home to our first clinic. All volunteers will be staying at http://www.posadaelantano.com/
